The Kickoff: Zimmer - Space | September Tape

Dare I even get into how much I love Zimmer and these monthly mixes? At this point, I think everyone's come to understand (and hopefully appreciate) me sharing them all the time. It's late for me on what I'm still calling Monday and I can't believe we're about to enter October. I'm super excited for the leaves changing, warm cider, and cooler temperatures although it is a little sad to see summer go. Zimmer's September mix is the perfect musical representation of the plunge from summer into fall. A hint of summer still peaks though, but overall it's on the chiller side of house.

Hi friends! Thanks for joining me this week, hopefully tonight's show made up for my absence last week. I've been way into Mannequine this week. If you haven't checked out their new remix for Divalvi, I suggest it. I'll be back next week with more awesomeness, so make sure to tune in!

The Kickoff: #09 Mannequine Journal

My apologies for not bringing you a show last week, but that just means that this week's show will be back with a vengeance. Today, in my hunt for tunes, I found myself enjoying a visit to Swiss duo Mannequine's SoundCloud page. They've always been a go to for me over the past couple of years. Mannequine has been doing a log of mix journal entries, so to speak, and this is their most recent installment.

The vibes on this mix are killer! It immediately jumps into massive energy and flows though various degrees of deep house, acid house, bass, and garage. I very much enjoyed the appearances from Tensnake, Royksopp & Robyn, and especially the appearance from Isaac Tichauer. Check out the mix below!

The Kickoff: Wayward - "Nest HQ MiniMix"

London duo Wayward are easily at the top of my favorites list right now. Their dreamy, piano-driven house and driving basslines make for some absolutely irresistible tunes. Later this month, the duo will be releasing their singles "Speak On It" and "Belize" on Black Butter Records. You can actually download "Speak On It" now for free, so I'll link you to that. It's been making quite a few appearances on the show. Wayward starts the mix off with "Belize" and carries the chill and smooth vibes throughout the rest of the mix. It's the perfect soundtrack for the descending temperatures as we start to get a taste for fall.

The Kickoff: Isaac Tichauer - "Music To... Celebrate To"

Music to celebrate to... I was actually able to enjoy Labor Day by having the day off on Monday. So in the true holiday spirit, we're starting on Tuesday. By now everyone should understand my fan girl obsession for all things French Express and in particular my love for Isaac Tichauer. This is a great way to jump back into the weekly routine.

The mix starts off light and jazzy, then gets deeper and deeper as it progresses. What I'm really digging about this is that track after track, Tichauer maintains that jazz swing throughout the mix. It's quite pleasant. Pretty much everyone associated with French Express is known for being able to capture strong emotion and sentiment in house music. While there's still some emotion in these tracks, I feel like this mix is more carefree--maybe that's because we're celebrating. Listen and decide for yourself.
