The Kickoff: Monitor 66 - Thumping Bass

Swedish duo Monitor 66 always knows how to throw down a good groove. Longtime followers of the show may remember a period of time a couple of years back where "Triscuits" appeared in nearly every episode of the show. It's a classic in my opinion. 

So to start the week off, I'm feeling something sophisticated and ultra groovy. The boys put this together this mix along with an interview for Noisey. It's chill in some spots and dancey in others, so I think it's good for both the day and night people. Enjoy the mix and keep reading for the tracklist.

Tonight's show, in my opinion, was truly eclectic. It's been a crazy week of music for me. It started off with some great mixes, Poolside's album took up a huge chunk of listening time, and then ended it all with Tycho at Webster Hall last night. There's a chance I won't be around next week. More about that later. Enjoy the playlist!

The Magician released Magic Tape Twenty-Two yesterday, and as always it's amazing. What makes it even more amazing is that it starts off with Monitor 66's "Triscuits." I will never get enough of this song. Words can't even begin to describe it's awesomeness. While the world tries to compile a complete tracklist for this latest Magic Tape, just sit back, relax, and listen.

Mix Monday: Zimmer - Desert Drive | April Mixtape

It upsets me that it's 84° right now in my house, and there's no air conditioning. Every year I like to think I like summer, but when it goes over about 70°, I go insane. Winter is definitely my favorite season, but in all fairness, summer has its own thing. I'm especially fond of barbecues, the abundance of ice cream, and most importantly, my birthday. There's also something about music of the summer. I do like summery beach tunes. 

This summer, I'll surely be rocking this Zimmer mix at the beach. As soon as I get tired of the Bromance mix I put in my car, this one's getting the life spun out of it. Anything with Monitor 66's "Triscuits" wins me over in a flash. And all this tropidisco (or what I've been referring to as tropidisco) has been amazing. I want more! If only I were planning a trip through the desert. Maybe one day when gas isn't ridiculously expensive, I'll go on a desert drive and listen to some Zimmer. Stay cool, enjoy the tunes.
