Chela - Romanticise

Head over to Kitsuné and grab the new Chela EP! My first encounter with Chela was in last year's Goldroom track "Fifteen," which you can still download on SoundCloud. Her voice is so fresh and inviting. With the biological clock ticking on the summer of 2013, "Romanticise" is the perfect way to end things. Both the video and track are super playful, upbeat, and colorful. I can guarantee this will be on repeat. Even though I'm not going back to school, this week marks the end of summer in my mind. August is at its final days, and it's so hard not to look toward cool weather with the calendar promoting September. The Kickoff: Maximum Heat 002 - NSFW August Mix

Summer's wrapping up, and I'm deeply disappointed in the amount of time (or rather, the complete lack of time) I've spent at the beach. All these great summer tracks floating around out there, and I haven't put them to use. It's sad. This week's mix really has me craving warm sand and crashing waves. 

Los Angeles-based blog, La Nuit, hosts good vibes and some intensely hot disco house courtesy of Amsterdam's NSFW. The mix features tracks from some of my summer favorites including Oliver, Majestique, Peter & The Magician, Le Crayon, and well, have a listen.

Oliver - Night Is On My Mind

This really needs no explanation. Oliver's sexy night anthem "Night Is On My Mind" gets a video to match, complete with a hip old man, light up shoes, and (because how often does one really get to use the word) lasertits. Bring on the night.

The Kickoff: MITZI Triple J Mix Up Exclusives Week 1

You know that one album that's impossible to find domestically, but you constantly put off buying because you think you'll serendipitously find it and avoid paying international shipping? Yeah -- that's Mitzi for me. These guys are great! Their debut, Truly Alive, is killer and came out back in February on the Australian label Future Classic. I've been trying to get my hands on a physical LP ever since. Also back in February, the band teamed up with Triple J as their first Mix Up exclusive residents of 2013. For four weeks the band delivered hour-long mixes each week of indie, house, nu-disco, and naturally some of their own tracks and edits. This was the first of the series, which Mitzi recently posted up on SoundCloud. Hopefully the rest are soon to follow!

A lot of good things have been happening in Ibiza that I'm not taking part in due to geographical and financial complications. If only Pangea hadn't separated millions of years ago. International travelling might be affordable.

One thing I'm sad I missed was Chris Malinchak's performance at Ushuaia last Friday. To end the set, Malinchak takes to the piano, accenting "So Good To Me" for a special live performance. I'm guilty of describing a lot of things as "absolutely stunning," but this finale takes the cake. This one almost had me in tears. (Beautiful things get to me.) Perhaps we'll get to see Chris Malinchak performing with a full, live backing orchestra some day soon.

Make sure to enjoy this while it lasts. It looks like BBC Radio's only hosting the video for a few more days.

Let's start the week off with something energetic to get you dancing. The weather here continues to remind me of that ambiguous fall/spring feeling. It's been in the mid 70's, low humidity, the ideal breeze, and as I write this, not a cloud in the sky. Only a few whisps. Keep reading for visual proof.

Ukrainian dj/producer Yaaman hosts his biweekly Mixmagic show for Jolt Radio. I'm probably pronouncing it wrong in my head, but I can't help but get good vibes off the name alone. The mix starts off with a killer, soon-to-be released remix from Sohight & Cheevy. Then, it never really stops from there. It's just track after track of huge energy and quality disco house.
