Mix Monday: Amine Edge @ Nouveau Casino, Paris, FR - 2013.02.23

Make sure your bass is cranked up for this one. France's Amine Edge goes in deep during this set! At times, I found myself thinking it was a bit mainstream, but that may have been the "g-house" clouding my judgement. I haven't heard of this "g-house," or "gangsta house," movement before looking up Amine Edge. Apparently, it's the converging of deep funk house bass and 80s hip house. Whatever it's supposed to reflect, it makes for some awesome vibes. Terms are always weird. Everyone either gets confused or disagrees. Just listen to the music, and sorry I couldn't find a tracklist to go with it. Enjoy.

Playlist: "Eclecticism" 2/24/2013

Hopefully you enjoyed the show this week! I had a lot of fun pulling this set together. After seeing XXYYXX last Thursday at 285 Kent, I thought I'd spin some tracks to try and capture his vibes. The last hour of the show was more my style, but I'll have to do this more often. Enjoy!

Mix Monday: Tensnake - BBC Essential Mix (2013-02-16)

These BBC mixes have really been catching my ears lately. I promise it's not a main source of mixes. (Although, maybe it should be.) Here's another amazing BBC mix! This time, from German dj/producer Tensnake. Last year, I got to see Tensnake at Le Poisson Rouge in New York, and it was probably the best set I danced to all year. After listening to this mix, I think you'll understand. This is nearly two hours of insanely funky, deep house flawlessly blended together and available to download. Some new unreleased tracks and edits appear here, hopefully we get some of those in the near future.

Disclosure - White Noise feat. AlunaGeorge

Put your Disclosure face on. Guy and Howard Lawrence manage to create the epitome of bliss. In my opinion, they have some of the best sounding UK garage house right now. Their track with AlunaGeorge is now available from wherever you choose to buy music. Enjoy! Tickets are also available for their upcoming shows in the US, continue reading for dates.

Mix Monday: Mickey 'In The Mix' Libertine Supersport 11 Jan 2013

Well the Libertine Supersport was the usual oozing, raunchy, red hot volcano that I always imagine it to be. Mickey laid down this amazing set last month. Everything about this picture says it all.

This place always seems to have the most insane line-ups. I don't know why I torture myself by subscribing to the emails. Belgium isn't really convenient to get to from New Jersey. Thank goodness technology allows us to enjoy things like this. Sleaze away.

Thanks for tuning in to the show tonight! I'm keeping it even shorter than normal so I can get home to catch the rerun of Walking Dead. All the creativity got used up in the previous two hours. Come back next week! And follow along on Facebook.

Mix Monday: Shindu - Mixtape for Socks In Sandals

Shindu has been on my go-to list since I first heard their debut Happy House EP. This latest mix by the Belgian boy/girl duo is filled with lots of poppy cosmic goodness. (I guess it should have been expected with the accompanying image.) The tracklist will be posted soon, but the mix does contain a little collaboration with Benedikt Hammer of Miami -- or as Shindu hints, the "Magic City." Enjoy this lovely mix, and keep reading to check out some more tunes.

Detroit Swindle - Guess What

Amsterdam's Lars Dales and Maarten Smeets, as Detroit Swindle, created this fantastic track which just sets the deep house thermometer on fire. The vocals on this track are insane. It's been a favorite of mine over the past couple of weeks. Enjoy the free download courtesy of XLR8R.
