The Kickoff: Zimmer - Stay | December Tape

Sorry I missed you guys this past Sunday night. I was really hoping to get in a killer show for the last show of the year. Perhaps I'll put together a little mix or compilation to officially end 2014. Well, for the last kickoff mix of the year, how could I not end with a Zimmer mix. I've probably shared more of his mixes this year than any other producer.

Following his usual horizontal disco vibes, France's Zimmer goes for silky smooth, mildly tropical tunes to take us out of 2014. There's just enough of a chill for us to know it's December, but the hints of warm weather give us something to look forward to as we look toward spring. So sit back and relax before one of the biggest party nights of the year and I hope you all have a happy new year!

The Kickoff: Isaac Tichauer - December 2014 Mix

You guys all know how I feel about my Isaac Tichauer, so no surprise I'm sharing his new December mix. Amid all the last-minute Christmas shopping stress, this is a nice little treat to soothe your soul. It's mostly chill and sparkly, but at times Tichauer brings a bit of heat into the nearly 90-minute mix. If you're nearby, catch Mr. Tichauer at one of his upcoming shows--it's guaranteed to be a good time.

Playlist: "Eclecticism" 12/21/2014

Hi music friends! Once again, thanks for tuning in. I hope this broke up the incessant Christmas music you've been hearing on the radio. Not that I'm opposed to all the holiday cheer, but I'm always down for a little dancing. This week I got started a bit early to fill in for Christini Bikini, so hopefully you got to tune in at 7pm to catch that. I should be back for one last show before the year's done. Happy holidays!

The Kickoff: Cropper - FOUND017

This week, I'm sharing this amazing mix that I stumbled upon from UK producer Cropper. I was obsessed with his single and accompanying video for "Forever" last year, but somehow he sort of slipped off my radar this year. Well better late than never. His mix for Found LDN packs in some killer vibes of the house and garage variety, and it was put together so well. What really hooked me in though was the little appearance from Kevin Over around the 8-minute mark. I've been mildly obsessed with him lately. Alright, enjoy this mix--I know you will.

Hello my pretties! Thanks for tuning in to my show this week. I finally bought Kraak & Smaak's Chrome Waves remix album and everything about it is awesome. I had to stop myself from playing too many tracks tonight, so expect to hear lots off that the next coming weeks. Check it out below and come back next week for more great music.

The Kickoff: Bag Raiders - Musica Copa Mixa

Naturally, all the mixes I post for you guys are ones that I thoroughly enjoy. Although sometimes a mix will just stand out above all the others. This latest mix for THUMP from Australian duo Bag Raiders is top notch. It's easily one of my favorite mixes of this year. The vibes are just on point.

Starting off with How To Dress Well's "& It Was You," the mix just really takes off from there and doesn't stop until we hit some Caribou. I think one of the main reasons I'm particularly in tune with this mix is because it's got a lot of my personal favorites in it. Well done Bag Raiders!

Welcome to December! I think I said it last week, but I can't believe the year is almost over. 2014 flew by! As we're nearing the end of the year, I've been reflecting back on some of my favorite tracks of 2014. Expect to hear a lot of oldies but goodies this month. Come back next week! I'll be on the air from 8-10pm, and follow Eclecticism on Facebook for more deliciousness throughout the week.

The Kickoff: Detroit Swindle | November Mix

It's amazing how quickly this year went by. I feel like it was just Christmas not too long ago, but essentially it's been a year. As 2014 winds down, everyone's reflecting and compiling their "Best Of" lists. I'm still putting the final touches on my top albums of 2014, but my number one is certain. I've been pretty sure on this for a while, and the top spot is definitely going to Detroit Swindle and their album Boxed Out. These guys put on one of the best shows I've ever seen, and the vibes are incredible. So let's say goodbye to November and hello to December with some quality.

I'm back at it this week, sorry for missing you guys last Sunday. Hopefully you had a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with lots of food and calories. Tonight was kind of chill and feminine, but I hope you got to dance off some of those pounds ;). I'll be back next week, so no worries. Happy last day of November!

Also, don't forget to check out this new remix from Antis & Le Croquant, it's beautiful!

The Kickoff: Thomas Coxhead - Keep On Lovin'

Man, last week was a super crazy week. I think I interacted more times with the cops in the past week than I have in my entire life. Everyone's safe, so no worries! I shared some things on Facebook, but sorry for the absence overall.

This mix was supposed to start off last week with some killer vibes. We'll just say that my spirits got dampened by the end of my Monday. Thomas Coxhead is new for me, and I can't believe I haven't found him sooner. The British producer has some incredible mixes on his SoundCloud page. 'Keep On Lovin' is his lastest doing. It opens with a nice jazzy house track and then continues with that groovy energy throughout the mix. There's no tracklist for this one, but I remember catching "Ladies & Gentlemen" by Claptone. Grab that if you haven't, and enjoy the mix!

Thank you to everyone who was listening tonight. I played quite a few freebies from Boys Get Hurt, Moon Boots, Duncan Murray, and Penguin Prison, so grab those. And check out the original version of Chris Malinchak's "Happiness." I'm super excited about it! It's a shame this wasn't the official cut.

Next week I won't be doing a show, but make sure to catch Vibing with Christini Bikini! She's going to be taking over for the week.

The Kickoff: REFLEX - Mixtape 21

French duo REFLEX always sends out good vibes. Their balearic, upbeat sound is guaranteed to make you let loose and put a smile on your face. This week they released a brand new mixtape that's packed with lots of great tunes. Sadly, no originals appear in the mix, but take a peek at the tracklist to take note of all the goodness while you're listening.

Hey party people! I owe you a playlist from last night. Things were kind of chill and lush. I've been enjoying the new Flight Facilities album 'Down To Earth' and that definitely needed to get in the mix. Come back next week for more good vibes, 8-10pm on 90.3 the Core.

The Kickoff: Zimmer - Into The Night | October Tape

Another month, another mix from French producer Zimmer. I've been trying to stay away from sharing every single one, but this one was extra good. His infamous horizontal disco vibes shine through all of the overall dreaminess with tracks from Aeroplane, Gold Fields, Flight Facilities, among others. Keep reading for the playlist and make sure to check out everything Zimmer is sharing on SoundCloud.

Thanks for joining me this week, and sorry it took so long to post the playlist. The internet at the radio station wasn't cooperating. I pulled a bunch of my favorite tracks to close out the Halloween weekend. I've been calling it my haunted-house music. Keep on creepin' on and come back next week!

The Kickoff:The Magician - "Magic Tape 46"

Last week, The Magician returned with another installment of his infamous Magic Tape series. I remember listening to these when he was back in the 10s, so it's crazy to think we're nearing 50. Magic Tape 46 carries on the tradition of spotlighting some of the freshest nu-disco, indie dance, and house today has to offer. Some tracks are out, others unheard of until now, but I was happy to hear Klaves's new track "Oh No." I've been preaching about it nonstop these last couple of weeks. So if you haven't checked it out yet, shame on you! Check it out now in the mix!

Boys Get Hurt - "Autumn Leaves"

I'm bringing you your mix a bit later in the week. Let's say we're celebrating the hump day. I'm a huge fan of Boys Get Hurt and how his music always has that air of the bittersweet ending to summer. The Tokyo-based producer has put together a mix for autumn that still has a sense of that warm weather flavor. There are a lot of great tracks including remixes from Klaves, Anoraak, and Poolside as well as some Boys Get Hurt tracks. Hopefully you're enjoying your week!

Thanks to everyone who tunes in this week. Sadly I won't be around next week for the show. Blame NYPD giving me some bogus ticket. Some great EP's to check out--John Parsley is back with another sexy, sophisticated jams and the new Wayward EP is gorgeous! I'll post those for your listening pleasure and enjoy the rest of your week!

The Kickoff: Baio - Club Modcast #013

You may recognize Baio as the bassist from Vampire weekend, but he is quickly making a name for himself as a solo artist. Last year, he released his amazing Mira EP on Future Classic. Check that out after the jump! Baio is back with another little EP featuring two tracks "On&On&On&On" backed with another track "Missive" and a couple remixes. In celebration of his new EP on Club Mod, Baio put together this wonderful mix packed with all sorts of vibes to get down to. My favorite being a little appearance from the Godfather of Soul, Mr. James Brown. Enjoy Baio now!

The Kickoff: Jaymo & Andy George - "Pete Tong Interview & Live Guest Mix: Radio 1 / 26.09.14"

Moda Black has been a fire storm of house over the past few years, and have really started to take off more recently. Listeners of the show hopefully know my love for all the Moda Black comps as they come out. To start the week off on a quality high note, I'm getting the party started with a new mix from Jaymo & Andy George. It starts off with a little interview by Pete Tong, but they immediately jump into some high energy beats.

Same time, same place.

The Kickoff: Zimmer - Space | September Tape

Dare I even get into how much I love Zimmer and these monthly mixes? At this point, I think everyone's come to understand (and hopefully appreciate) me sharing them all the time. It's late for me on what I'm still calling Monday and I can't believe we're about to enter October. I'm super excited for the leaves changing, warm cider, and cooler temperatures although it is a little sad to see summer go. Zimmer's September mix is the perfect musical representation of the plunge from summer into fall. A hint of summer still peaks though, but overall it's on the chiller side of house.

Hi friends! Thanks for joining me this week, hopefully tonight's show made up for my absence last week. I've been way into Mannequine this week. If you haven't checked out their new remix for Divalvi, I suggest it. I'll be back next week with more awesomeness, so make sure to tune in!

The Kickoff: #09 Mannequine Journal

My apologies for not bringing you a show last week, but that just means that this week's show will be back with a vengeance. Today, in my hunt for tunes, I found myself enjoying a visit to Swiss duo Mannequine's SoundCloud page. They've always been a go to for me over the past couple of years. Mannequine has been doing a log of mix journal entries, so to speak, and this is their most recent installment.

The vibes on this mix are killer! It immediately jumps into massive energy and flows though various degrees of deep house, acid house, bass, and garage. I very much enjoyed the appearances from Tensnake, Royksopp & Robyn, and especially the appearance from Isaac Tichauer. Check out the mix below!

Monday, September 15, 2014

The Kickoff: Wayward - "Nest HQ MiniMix"

London duo Wayward are easily at the top of my favorites list right now. Their dreamy, piano-driven house and driving basslines make for some absolutely irresistible tunes. Later this month, the duo will be releasing their singles "Speak On It" and "Belize" on Black Butter Records. You can actually download "Speak On It" now for free, so I'll link you to that. It's been making quite a few appearances on the show. Wayward starts the mix off with "Belize" and carries the chill and smooth vibes throughout the rest of the mix. It's the perfect soundtrack for the descending temperatures as we start to get a taste for fall.

The Kickoff: KILIAN & FINN - eXtreme Radio Guestmix

Recently I was introduced to Exposure Music, a German label that has been cranking out some bangin' tunes. Kilian & Finn are the masterminds behind the label and these guys really know how to get people moving. House, bass, garage, and dance all come together for an incredible energy. So to kick off this week, here's a party starting mix from Exposure Music label heads Kilian & Finn. Check out everything else Exposure Music has to offer, you won't be disappointed.

The Kickoff: Isaac Tichauer - "Music To... Celebrate To"

Music to celebrate to... I was actually able to enjoy Labor Day by having the day off on Monday. So in the true holiday spirit, we're starting on Tuesday. By now everyone should understand my fan girl obsession for all things French Express and in particular my love for Isaac Tichauer. This is a great way to jump back into the weekly routine.

The mix starts off light and jazzy, then gets deeper and deeper as it progresses. What I'm really digging about this is that track after track, Tichauer maintains that jazz swing throughout the mix. It's quite pleasant. Pretty much everyone associated with French Express is known for being able to capture strong emotion and sentiment in house music. While there's still some emotion in these tracks, I feel like this mix is more carefree--maybe that's because we're celebrating. Listen and decide for yourself.

Playlist: "Eclecticism" 8/31/2014

So summer is officially over in my eyes. Once you start saying September dates, you start to enter this fall state of mind. I hope you enjoyed tonight's show. I'm coming off last night's Louisahhh! high. She played in Brooklyn at Glasslands Gallery, and of course she killed it! Tonight's show was a bit deeper and completely dance-worthy. Maybe I'll upload it so everyone can enjoy it. Come back next week! :)

The Kickoff: Debonair - "Voyager Seven"

Here's a sleek, funky mix from British producer Debonair for you to start your week off right. These vibes are great--lots of deep house, hints of French house, and some jazzier tracks. Everything just seems to glisten and sparkle all the way to your ears. Get ready to shake those hips! Thank goodness there's no secrets here, check out the tracklist after the mix.

Playlist: "Eclecticism" 8/24/2014

Hey everyone! Sorry this was posted much later than usual, but nonetheless, here is the playlist from tonight's show. It was sort of all over the place tonight. I'm a little late, but I was really excited about this Black Butter Records compilation that came out last month, Black Butter Spread Love, Vol. 4. Ever since Wayward started releasing stuff on Black Butter, I've been exploring a lot of their tracks. Good stuff! Pay with a tweet and get "Around You" for free.

And in case you didn't see it on Facebook, I posted last week's 3-hour show online.

The Kickoff: Jonas Rathsman - Warehouse Project 2014 Mix Series 001

French Express has been carving out a name for themselves as one of the leaders in deep house over the past few years. Hopefully by this point, you've come to appreciate my obsession with not only Isaac Tichauer, but all of the French Express knights.

Jonas Rathsman fires up a storm with his signature deep burning dance floor vibes in this mix for the first in this year's Warehouse Project series. It starts off kind of slow, but the pace quickens as the mix gets into some tech and jazzier house. The whole thing is rather moody and sassy--just how I like my Rathsman. Enjoy!

Playlist: "Eclecticism" 8/17/2014

Thanks for tuning in to the show tonight. I hope that you caught the whole thing! To make up for being absent the past couple of weeks and because the guys before me needed a sub, this week's show was three hours of sunny nu-disco and some deep house cuts. I think I'm going to post this one online somewhere for everyone to enjoy, so look for that later in the week. Come back for more groovy goodness next Sunday!

Monday, August 11, 2014

The Kickoff: Mighty Mouse - Discobelle Mix 045

My deepest apologies for being absent the past couple of weeks. Last night Wild Jokers took over and I'm sure they gave you some energy packed tunes for the night. I'll be making it up to you next week for an extra long show, so be sure to tune in at 7pm!

This week I'm kicking off with a mix that Mighty Mouse put together for Discobelle. It starts off a little slow, but he wastes no time getting into some deep, tech, and moody house and nu disco. Basically, get ready to party. There's some really great tracks in here. Thank goodness there's a tracklist.

The Kickoff: PHUNKTASTIKE - SPA IN DISCO "Super Disco Heroes"

I had a hard time finding something that really felt right today. As much as I default to all the beachy nu-disco, I've been craving more of a darker tinge. There is still that urge to disco, but things need to get a little moody. One track that's been on repeat lately is this Blondie remix that Spirit Soul Music label head Phunktastike gave away a couple of weeks ago. I've been trying to throw it in the show, but it's so different from everything else I've been listening to lately.

This mix that Phunktastike did for Spa In Disco sort of captures that moody essence I've been craving. It works well for the late night folks. The pace sort of lurks around, but it's still something that allows for dancing. Sadly there isn't a playlist for this. Enjoy Phunktastike's Blondie remix after the jump instead.

Monday, July 28, 2014

The Kickoff: Zimmer - Méditerranée | July Tape

You guys should be quite familiar with Paris's Zimmer by now. I've probably posted every one of his mixes. They're always so good, I can't help myself. This month, the French producer gives us another lesson in horizontal disco. It starts off slower so we can get some La Roux in the mix, then things take off, only to come back to the slow jams at the end. There are also a lot of top notch edits and mixes of some old school tracks in the mix. It adds a nice touch. I hope you enjoy just as much as I did!

Sunday, July 27, 2014

Playlist: "Eclecticism" 7/27/2014

Hopefully you did some dancing for me tonight. The studio got so hot, I had to do the show seated for the first time in a couple of years. Lame. Come back next week for more great summer tunes!

Monday, July 21, 2014

The Kickoff: Waifs & Strays - "Deep House Amsterdam Straf_Werk Festival Podcast #010"

Waifs & Strays are two gents from the UK who surely know how to get down. They come from different musical backgrounds, but came together for their love of house. This mix comes ahead of the Straf_Werk festival in the Netherlands which happens in August. I can only assume Waifs & Strays is playing and it will be a groovin' good time. The boys packed a bunch of soulful, shimmering house tracks into this one, so I hope you're ready to move your feet.

The Kickoff: JBAG - Asia Tour Mixtape

Continental Records label heads Jerry Bouthier and Andrea Gorgerino, JBAG, have a knack for playful, dreamy, and bouncy productions. I've been sort of stuck in that groove since the release of Boys Get Hurt's latest Your Love EP. The B-side track "Sea Through" appears in this JBAG mix. Along with a bunch of other upbeat and poppy tropical tracks, the boys have included their new single "Through Blue." Look for that to release this week. It features another favorite of the show, Kamp!

As always, thanks for tuning in! It was a hot and humid Sunday in Jersey, so tonight I decided to keep things nice, filtered, and slow. Come back next week for more summer jams!

The Kickoff: DIRTCAST #43 | Kraak & Smaak

Dutch trio Kraak &Smaak never disappoints. Whether it's a track, an album, a mix, whatever it is, Kraak & Smaak will bring the funkiest vibes around. Today, they posted a new single called "Mountain Top," and it's exactly what you want from a these guys. It's groovy, no fills house with a hint of darkness. So to celebrate and continue with the energy, here's a mix that Kraak & Smaak put together for Dirt Crew Recordings. It starts off with a remix of Detroit Swindle's "64 Ways," which you can find out now! Sadly, we'll have to wait until the end of the month for "Mountain Top."

The Kickoff: Boys Get Hurt | Summer House ~ MIX4SWIM2 ~

Japanese producer Boys Get Hurt is a favorite of the show and a go-to for summer vibes. Associated often with French label Kitsuné, the cutesy, playful energy is simply irresistible. Later this week, Boys Get Hurt will be putting out a new EP to follow last month's Your Love EP. I plan to share the new EP this week, so keep an eye out. The playlist for this mix is also something to keep an eye out for, checkout the Summer House Facebook page.

The Kickoff: Zimmer - Hills | June Tape

If you're a regular reader of the blog, then you're well aware of my love for French dj/producer Zimmer. If you're new, then scroll through all the mixes, and you'll understand. Zimmer's "horizontal disco" is always silky smooth and groovy as hell. This mix starts off on the slower, nu-disco side of the spectrum before launching into track after track of that deeper, piano-laden house music that gets our feet moving. Much like every Zimmer mix, it will turn whatever you're doing into the beach party of your life.

Playlist: "Eclecticism" 6/22/2014

Hi everyone! It's been a couple of weeks since I've graced your ears with some delicious summer house jams. Sadly, this will have to be your fill for a couple of weeks. Next week, I'll be celebrating my birthday, hopefully having someone dj for me. There were a bunch of new tracks scattered about the show, a lot at the end. One I've been trying to track down for a while, the FAUL & Wad Ad Vs. PNAU track "Changes" was on this really sweet Ultra Deep House compilation that I picked up this week. Check out some of the other tracks below, and find the compilation everywhere this Tuesday!

The Kickoff: Cravach - Footixtape June 2014

Man, it's been a rough couple of weeks for Eclecticism. I initially didn't realize I'd be leaving you without a Sunday dance party for two weeks in a row, but this just means this weekend's show is going to be really good.

To start off another week of with a bang, I have for you a wonderful mix from French producer Cravach. Longtime listeners of the show may remember a period of time where every show featured his Crystal Waters cover. This mix isn't as disco-y at that track, but it's more in the tech house/techno direction. Although it's a little different from what I've been rocking lately, the vibes are killer.

The Kickoff: Discobelle Mix 041 - Moullinex

Ahead of his forthcoming Love Magnetic EP, out later this week on Gomma Records, Moullinex put together this incredible mix for Discobelle. The Portuguese producer starts off more on the nu-disco side of things, but then wastes no time getting into some jazzy and housier tracks. The energy on this is great, so hopefully it starts your week off with a jolt of feel good. Then you can end it with Moullinex's new EP on Friday.
