Thoughts...: The Very Best - "Super Mom Mixtape"

If there's one thing that happens in the next five minutes, make sure it's downloading this album. Since Mother's Day, The Very Best has been giving away their mixtape, appropriately titled Super Mom Mixtape. Simply go to their website, type in your email address, check your email, download, and unzip! In no time, you'll be bopping along like these people:

The bass on that track is amazing! Try to not hit repeat. Seriously, try. If you haven't already downloaded, go download! The mixtape features mixes of tracks originally by Baaba MaalCee-Lo, LCD Soundsystem, Rusko, and several others. Advance to the track 7, "Secousse," an original track which features Afrikan Boy, Mimitah, Mo Laurdi, BLK JKS, Marina Gasolina, Kudashe, Isa GT, and Jose Hendrix. I didn't want to leave anyone out on that one. But anyway, this track is on fire!

The Very Best had me sold at "Warm Heart of Africa," the title track off their official debut which released in 2009. Vampire Weekend's Ezra Koenig guided me to that, but The Very Best truly has the very best vibes coming from their blend of dance, hip-hop, pop, and traditional Malawian music. Between the production of London duo Radioclit, and the Malawian influence from vocalist Esau Mwamwaya, The Very Best continues down the right path with this release.
