Mix Monday: Jonas Rathsman - April Mix

I can't believe April is over. This is the perfect groove for the end of the month. I love Jonas Rathsman and all things French Express. Such beautiful things are happening over there. Enjoy Jonas Rathsman's latest mix. It's full of lots of groovy disco goodness. The tracklist will be up at some point, but as of posting this, it wasn't up yet. I'll try to remember to update this post when the tracklist surfaces.

Playlist: "Eclecticism" 4/29/2012

Extra long playlist this week. The show got started at 7pm, instead of 8pm tonight. Sorry it took so long to get this playlist up. I had to type everything into my little Excel spreadsheet, and it took forever. Usually I just copy and paste, but that didn't  want to work. Ugh.

Well hopefully everyone enjoyed the show. I got a lot of good feedback from a few calls this week. Thanks for listening! Come back next week at 8pm.

The Magician - Magic Tape Twenty-Two

The Magician released Magic Tape Twenty-Two yesterday, and as always it's amazing. What makes it even more amazing is that it starts off with Monitor 66's "Triscuits." I will never get enough of this song. Words can't even begin to describe it's awesomeness. While the world tries to compile a complete tracklist for this latest Magic Tape, just sit back, relax, and listen.

ISLAND - WYNDCHYMES

I've been digging this track by ISLAND the past couple of days, and they just put up another today. ISLAND is a collaboration between Hawaii (James from VanGuard) and RPTL. They've got a couple of tracks up on SoundCloud that can be downloaded. This tranquil vibe is quite nice. I'm excited to see what the future holds.

Mix Monday: Paradisco - Minimix IV: Rubix

Check out this mix done by Les Loups for Paradisco, a series of events in Germany for house music with a French touch flair. This mix features a bunch of tracks and remixes by Rubix, a dj/producer from Amsterdam. His sound combines a bit of funk, disco, and swing while keeping true to a solid house beat. I wish it was longer than 15 minutes. That's clearly not long enough. If you're in Germany, check out the Paradisco event coming up in May with Rubix. I wish I could be there. This is groovy!

Playlist: "Eclecticism" 4/22/2012

Happy Earth Day! It would have been nice to get outside and enjoy all that nature has to offer, but instead it decided to rain. Lame. Well here's the playlist from tonight's show. Sorry it's a little late. The show ran over, and I had some internet problems. Enjoy!

Mix Monday: Zimmer - Desert Drive | April Mixtape

It upsets me that it's 84° right now in my house, and there's no air conditioning. Every year I like to think I like summer, but when it goes over about 70°, I go insane. Winter is definitely my favorite season, but in all fairness, summer has its own thing. I'm especially fond of barbecues, the abundance of ice cream, and most importantly, my birthday. There's also something about music of the summer. I do like summery beach tunes.

This summer, I'll surely be rocking this Zimmer mix at the beach. As soon as I get tired of the Bromance mix I put in my car, this one's getting the life spun out of it. Anything with Monitor 66's "Triscuits" wins me over in a flash. And all this tropidisco (or what I've been referring to as tropidisco) has been amazing. I want more! If only I were planning a trip through the desert. Maybe one day when gas isn't ridiculously expensive, I'll go on a desert drive and listen to some Zimmer. Stay cool, enjoy the tunes.

Bromance x Coachella Mixed by Brodinski, Pipes & Louisahhh

Well, I wish I had a ticket to this Bromance event tomorrow. This mix by Brodinski, Pipes, and Louisahh just tore my ears to pieces. If I happen to die in an accident, I blame Bromance. I'll be driving around in my car to this for a while.

Mix Monday: Discoholycs - Hostal Tape #5 Abril

These two guys from Colombia have really got it going on. It's a nice blend of deep house and disco. This is the first time I've encountered Discoholycs, but I love what they're doing. They've been doing monthly mixes, so follow them on SoundCloud. And check out this mix, it's got a lot of really great tracks!

A-Trak, Kimbra, & Mark Foster (of Foster the People) - Warrior

Converse is awesome! I will always love my chucks. (Which reminds me -- I need to go back to the store to buy the dark pink pair I saw the other day on the clearance rack.) They've been doing some awesome things with music as well. Most recently, the Converse 'Three Artists. One Song.' series released "DoYaThing," a collaboration with Gorillaz, Andre 3000, and LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy. One of my favorites was "All Summer," the track by Kid Cudi, Rostam (of Vampire Weekend), and Bethany (of Best Coast).

The lastest track up for grabs is a track by A-Trak, Kimbra (who was featured on Gotye's "Somebody I Used to Know"), and Mark Foster (of Foster the People). Check out the video and grab the track below.

Usher - Climax (Edwin van Cleef Remix)

Did you download the new Edwin van Cleef remix of Usher's "Climax"? If you haven't, you should. It was featured in his latest Show & Tell mixtape which is also pretty solid. Follow Edwin van Cleef, on SoundCloud if you're not already. He always posts some solid tunes, and he's easily one of my top five favorite dj/producers. ♥

Per Byhring - Ettertid (Russ Chimes Remix)

Today I thought I'd rock a little Russ Chimes. It was mainly inspired by this free download. All you have to do is follow this link and sign up for his email list. That's not a bad deal. A lot of artists seem to be taking advantage of this giving away a download when you subscribe to their emails thing. It's kind of genius, but what's going to happen when people are already signed up?

Look for a new single from Russ Chimes in May, and fan him on Facebook
Also, check out Per Byhring. They've got some amazing stuff. It's nice and chill, much like something Ghostly International would release.

Keep reading for a little Midnight Club action. It's such an amazing EP.

Mix Monday: Edwin van Cleef - Show & Tell Mixtape 3: Leeds Bass Music

Yeah, technically it's Tuesday at this point, but my Monday was rather eventful. I spent about 4 hours at the doctor's office, which sucked. Thank goodness for smartphones and the SoundCloud app. While trying to waste time in the waiting room, I came across the new Edwin van Cleef mix. I think I squealed out loud. There was definitely a huge smile on my face. I'm pretty sure the doctor would advise against all this bass because of my head injury, but screw it. If I have to go out, I want it to be death by Edwin van Cleef. Someone just make sure to get him to dj the funeral. I'll be there in spirit. You can count on that.
